BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING (BIM) - CHINA TASK FORCE PRESENTED BY PHILIP D. LARSON
Last November as an invited guest, Phil Larson spoke at the 1st Young Professional Forum in Shanghai, China as a panelist. The discussion topic was the core competences of project management professionals. The forum was a breakout session of the "2013 International Project Management Conference." Phil spoke about the importance of mentoring, and his participation in the AACE Mentor Program. He encouraged the young professionals in the audience to find a skill or interest that they are passionate about, or can grow, and to gain insight and expertise by learning from the experience of others.
Overall, this was an excellent conference. The speakers, the hosts, the master of ceremonies, all provided a very well-choreographed conference. A VIP room and gifts were provided to all of the presenters.
The special tour of the yet to be completed Shanghai tower, soon to be the tallest building in China and the 2nd tallest in the world at 632 m (2,073 ft.), in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai was the technical highlight of the conference. This was followed on Saturday, November 16th by an all-day sightseeing trip to the city of Suzhou, China which is often dubbed the "Venice of the East" or "Venice of China."
Phil will be providing a presentation of his trip, and on his support of the China Task Force, which is chaired by Steve Warhoe and Feng Shen, who also attended the conference. John Ciccarelli, who is currently serving as AACE President, also attended as a presenter.
