BRAVE NEW MUSIC:Catalyst Quartet
The vivacious CATALYST QUARTET is from New York City. Hailed by the Washington Post as "Electrifying...wildly colorful and exploding with life", the Catalyst Quartet seeks to change the way that classical music is perceived.Top Laureates of the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Competition for young Black and Latino string players, they have a passion for connecting with audiences through accessible new music. Their performances throughout the U.S., as well as in England, South America, and south Africa have mad them an ensemble to keep an eye on.
The quartet's program will include "Strum"by Jessie Montgomery; String Quartet No. 3 "Mishima" by Phillip Glass; "In Memory by Joan Tower; and "Wapango" by Paquito D'Rivera.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 7 p.m.. Snacks, craft beer, wine and other beverages will be available for purchase and may be enjoyed in the casual atmosphere of the performance.
