Woody Pines
Woody Pines has been playing and singing since he can remember. He left home with his guitar on his back and made it through 49 states before he was 19. After landing on the west coast, he co-founded a ragtime jug band, The Kitchen Syncopators, which sold thousands of their self-released recordings. The Syncopators performed everywhere from the streets of New Orleans to Seattle's Folklife Festival to the Oregon Country Fair.
Now he is no stranger to fans of the new folk music coming from all corners of the USA. Alongside artists like Old Crow Medicine Show and Pokey LaFarge, Woody continues to forage thru the secret world of old 78's and to write new chapters in the Anthology of American Music. Integrating sounds from Leadbelly to Bob Dylan, from Woodie Guthrie to Preservation Hall, Woody Pines belts out songs of fast cars, pretty women and hard luck with a distinctive vintage twang.
The Woody Pines sound is completed with Shawn Supra slapping away on the upright bass, Brad Tucker on lead guitar and backing vocals, Joe Giotta on drums and Woody on guitar, harmonica and lead vocals. They have logged over 7800 miles in their van last year, with two trips to the UK and Ireland. ('Counting Alligators' was #7 on the Americana Charts.)
Woody Pines is planning to release a new record in early 2014. If this years tour is anything like last year, they will bring a copy to each and every one who is lucky enough to catch this band live.
"Woody Pines is the best band I ever heard in my life I swearI'm their biggest fan now!" honky tonk hero, Billy Joe Shaver
