Discover "nearly new" work by living writers, performed by some of Atlanta's hottest directors and actors in dialogue with amazing writers, producers and theater makers from Haiti, Quebec, Belgium, France, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago and Los Angeles! Celebrate the voices of women and youth through plays, graphic novels, and readings from and about the French-Speaking World. Shine a light on contemporary issues like bullying behavior, our obsession with Facebook, our litigious society and mothers and daughters.
Tickets for each performance are $12 at The Goat Farm, 1200 Foster Street in West Atlanta; several are followed by wine and beer receptions or informal discussions.
FESTIVAL SCHEDULE:
STAY WITH ME (STAY) *Tuesday, March 18 at 7:30 pm *Wednesday, March 19 at 8:00 pm Reading of the play Stay with Me directed by Olivier Coyette from Belgium. In English with French super-titles. Coyette leads a discussion after the reading. On March 18, a Belgian beer reception follows hosted by the Consulate General of Belgium.
FABLES FANTASTIQUES! (FABLES) *Wednesday, March 19 at 10:00 am *Thursday, March 20 at 10:00 am Performance of the play Fables Fantastiques! a one-person show based on fables from France, African countries and Haiti. A dramatic reading workshop will follow where students create their own version of Aesop's fable The Fox and the Crow. Especially for grades 4 through 10. In English and French.
FIVE FACES FOR EVELYN FROST (5) *Thursday, March 20 at 8:00 pm *Sunday, March 30 at 5:00 pm Reading of the play 5 Faces for Evelyn Frost by Guillaume Corbeil from Québec, Canada. Recommended for high school and college students. Bilingual with French super-titles.
JANE, THE FOX, AND ME (JANE) *Friday, March 21 at 10:00 am *Saturday, March 22 at 2:00 pm *Sunday, March 23 at 2:00 pm *Thursday, March 27 at 10:00 am The graphic novel Jane, the Fox and Me by Fanny Britt and illustrated by Isabelle Arsenault from Québec, Canada is adapted for reader's theater for the first time with videography by Logan Kibens. Talk-back conversations follow the reading. Family-friendly. Friday and Saturday, in French with English super-titles. Sunday, in English with French super-titles.
THE REVOLUTIONISTS (REV) *Friday, March 21 at 8:00 pm *Saturday, March 22 at 8:00 pm *Sunday, March 23 at 5:00 pm Reading of the new play The Revolutionists by playwright Lauren Gunderson from the United States. In English.
BIENVEILLANCE (BIEN) *Wednesday, March 26 at 8:00 pm *Friday, March 28 at 10:00 am Reading of the play Goodwill by Fanny Britt from Québec, Canada. On March 26, wine and cheese reception follows hosted by Québec Delegation of Atlanta.
ORIGINAL PLAY (GEORGES) *Saturday, March 29 at 2:00 pm & 5:00 pm Performance of an original play by Béleck Georges from Haiti, created over five days by metro-Atlanta students of all ages and backgrounds, and five professional actors. In French, English and Créole.
