Tom Oakes at Edinburgh FC / EFC
This gig is Tom's first at EFC in several years - too long say I! Rooted in traditional music Tom has performed with a veritable who's who of the Scottish, Irish and English folk scenes including Tim Edey, Chris Stout, Jackie Oates, Kevin Henderson, Adam Sutherland, Allan MacDonald, Cathal McConnell and many more.
Toms recent work as a sound designer has seen commissioned work at the Tron (Glasgow), Traverse and Assembly Theatres plus a Prague Fringe award for his collaborative piece Can This Be Home with Icelandic director Kolbrun Bjort Sigfusdottir which combined solo flute and bouzouki with textural pieces performed with cassette tape loops.
A former flute and guitar tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and, currently, the University of the Highlands and Islands, Tom has been in demand as a tutor far and wide (Shetland and Australia) as well as having multiple flute courses published online for organisations around the world.
Tom is also an in demand, stylish and sympathetic accompanist on guitar with, when necessary, a driving style that fairly licks along; he listens to what is needed and delivers.
And, as if that wasn't enough to be going on with, Tom was a nominee for the 2019 Musician of the Year at the Scots Trad Awards!
Yes, this will be an exceptional night of great music and surprises.

Accessibility
UCC has relatively easy access for wheelchair users. There's a portable ramp to enable the wheelchair to get past 3-4 steps from the street to the main door. Once inside everything is on the same level (ground floor) - performance room, bar and disabled-friendly toilets.
