**About The Class**

The most important part of learning to use your voice is to harness your breath so that it works for you and carries your voice to your audience. To accomplish this it is also important to be aware of how your posture affects the free flow of your breath and your voice, and how your habitual tensions affect your performance.  With this in mind, classes will always begin with relaxation, breath and posture work before we move to sound and text.

Classes will include exercises to heighten the awareness of your habits, your physical self, your posture, and breath, sound production and projection. We will address diction as a way to work towards personal intelligible eloquence. We will work with self-generated poems as well as other chosen texts.

This is not a sit and listen class. Students should wear clothing appropriate for movement and bring a yoga mat, as we will do some work on the floor.
Everyone in the class will receive a booklet of exercises and a CD of the breath and relaxation work.  I will be working from Kristin Linklater's text "Freeing the Natural Voice"  It is not required that you purchase the book, but you might find it useful.

**About The Teacher**
