Safos Dance Theatre is proud to invite the Tucson Community to our 5 year anniversary performance Quinque Friday April 4, 2014 and Saturday April 5, 2014 7:30pm at Pima West Community College Center for the Arts- Recital Hall West Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Rd. Tucson, AZ 85709-0225. Suggested Donation: $14, students with Student I.D./Seniors $12. Tickets available at the door or online at www.safosdance.org. Online ticket sales begin March 17th.
In honor of our 5 year anniversary, Safos will restage re-stage four pieces of repertoire by company choreographers Yvonne Montoya and Grace Rhyne: "Banned Books," "Language is a Door, Not a Wall," "Zul," and "Polka Dots and Bowties." Quinque will also feature three new original works. "Gardens, Rain and Window Panes" is a 30 minute piece by director and choreographer Yvonne Montoya. The piece is based on Rodin's statues. Company member and choreographer Grace Rhyne will debut two new pieces, "The Sonoran Situation" part one in a series inspired by our ever-changing Desert and "Grasping the Infinite" a duet that explores reality without the rope.
Safos Dance Theatre is an emerging modern dance company committed to creating contemporary artistic forms that reflect important issues affecting the multi-ethnic communities of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. We value dedication, integrity, respect and diversity. This show reflects Safos ongoing commitment to providing a safe space for emerging artists to examine themes important to our communities.
