Ethics and the Climate Crisis: An Evening with Kathleen Dean Moore
Space is limited, so we encourage you to register in advance. However, you are welcome to simply show up and pay at the door - if you prefer. Totally up to you!

Join us at the Whidbey Institute for an evening with Kathleen Dean Moore, as she discusses the moral and ethical dimensions of the climate movement:

"RED SKY AT MORNING: Ethics and the Climate Crisis"
Global warming is a scientific and political issue, but it is fundamentally a moral issue and it calls for a moral response. Come hear author and activist Kathleen Dean Moore speak about our responsibility to take urgent action. Why do we have a moral obligation to stop fossil fuels? How are we doing to get it done?

During this special evening event intended for the wider community, we will share the energy and outcomes of the preceding two-day conference wherein a group of 75 climate leaders from across the region will have gathered at the Whidbey Institute to discuss the state of the movement and, in particular, the moral and ethical dimensions of climate change. This group includes many leaders, activists, and decision-makers, including KC Golden of Climate Solutions and Alec Loorz of Kids vs. Global Warming.

About the Speaker:
Kathleen Dean Moore is Distinguished Professor, Emerita of Philosophy at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Her newest book is Moral Ground: Ethical Action for a Planet in Peril, which argues for a moral response to climate destabilization and species loss. Her 2010 book of essays, Wild Comfort: The Solace of Nature, tells of nature's power to move us from sorrow to courage and hope. Her work is published in magazines such as Orion, Audubon, Discover, The Sun, and the New York Times Magazine.

"The climate-change movement . . . is generally careful not to talk about obligation or duty or morality. It will talk about patriotism or competing with China or getting jobs or profiting from green energy - anything but ethics. That's a terrible strategic mistake."
Kathleen Dean Moore

We'll see you on April 12th!~
