With Fellinesque humor and dramatic surprises it chronicles the first steps toward maturity of Abdullio, a ten year old orphan who lives with his earthy grandmother. She urges him to quit his dead-end newspaper selling job and go to school. Unable to read he is fearful of school failure until he is adopted by a colorful carnival group The Illusion Conspiracy and a man who claims to be a newspaper editor challenging Abdullio to learn how to read. The setting for the film is the longest carnival on record40 days and nights.
