SFSI Seminars: Fuck Yes! Teaching and Talking About Consent
SFSI Seminars Presents:
FUCK YES! Teaching and Talking About Consent
Consent comes up in all areas of sex education whether working with adults or youth, teaching about pleasure or safety, discussing kinky or more vanilla sex - consent is an integral part of sex and sex education. However, many approaches to teaching consent utilize fear-based messages or focus completely on legal accountabilities. All too often an open dialog in which desire is articulated, communicated and discussed is brushed aside and consent is treated as something that has to be done before the real fun starts.
Join SFSI trainers Anton and EB for an interactive workshop in which participants are invited to discuss and explore shifting the way we approach our sex education to embrace an enthusiastic consent model, where consent is taught about not merely as an ethical and legal requirement but as a key skill in someone's sexual toolkit. In this interactive workshop educators from all venues (classroom, web, switchboard) can come together and discuss a consent framework that embraces pleasure and promotes communication. As a group, we will share our challenges and solicit approaches to solving dilemmas in teaching and talking about enthusiastic consent.
Participants will leave with a greater understanding of enthusiastic consent and the tools necessary to teach this essential skill.
