Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap"
The Attic Theatre presents Agatha Christie's spellbinding mystery The Mousetrap at Lake Sammamish Foursquare Church.
The Mousetrap is a masterfully crafted whodunit by best-selling mystery novelist and playwright Agatha Christie. Dubbed "The Queen of Crime," Dame Agatha wrote over 100 works, including 16 plays. The Mousetrap is her most successful drama and the world's longest running play. It opened at Ambassador's Theatre in London in 1952 and has run continuously ever since.
Commenting on The Mousetrap's unparalleled success, Ms. Christie said, "There's a bit of something in it for almost everybody."
In the play, eight people find themselves snowbound in a Berkshire guesthouse outside of London. One of them is a murderer; the others are potential victims. Each character wears a figurative mask to hide private mysteries, which are cunningly concealed and revealed throughout this psychological drama. Viewers will find themselves spellbound by the suspenseful events unfolding and face-to-face with their own masks in life.
While highly entertaining, The Mousetrap also spotlights the compelling issue of child abuse and its far-ranging effects.
