MAHA: Cabarêt gateau aux fruits
Venez passer une soirée avec le Choeur Maha sous la direction artistique de Sarah Rossy. Le répertoire de notre choeur féministe pour le concert d'hiver Cabaret "gâteau aux fruits" comprend des harmonies ludiques, de la musique folk, pop et classique écrite par des femmes ainsi que des chansons de nos ancêtres. Emma Anders, musicienne montréalaise, nous rejoindra pour un set d'ouverture et le concert comprendra également un set spécial de l'artiste jazz Sarah Rossy ainsi que de petits ensembles avec des membres de notre chorale. Nous sommes heureuses de partager avec vous la musique que nous aimons et qui nous inspire et on espère vous y voir nombreux et nombreuses !
Join us for an evening of music with Choeur MAHA under the artistic direction of Sarah Rossy. Our feminist choir's repertoire for the winter concert "Fruitcake Cabaret" will include folk, pop, and classical music written by women as well as songs from our ancestors. Guest artist and Montréal musician Emma Anders will join us for an opening set. The concert will also feature a special set by jazz artist Sarah Rossy as well as small ensembles with members of our choir. We are happy to share with you music that we find beautiful and inspirational and we hope to see you there!

Sarah Rossy is a performer, composer, producer, and educator born and based in Tiotia:ke/Montréal. Sarah combines influences of jazz, experimental music, and interdisciplinary elements into autobiographical and socially outspoken soundscapes for a truly unique result. Sarah has performed over 500 times in the past decade, and is the first Canadian finalist of the Ella Fitzgerald International Voice Competition. Sarah and GRAMMY-nominated sound engineer Jennifer Nulsen were the 2018 winners of the Eleanor Stubley Recording Prize, to support the recording of The Conclusion EP (2019, Florafone Records). Sarah holds both a B.Mus and M.Mus from McGill University, is the artistic director of feminist choir Chur Maha and teaches at Dawson College. Her artistic practice now includes education as a tool for social justice. A much-anticipated debut audiovisual album, an evolving orchestral jazz narrative soundscape reimagined through an ethereal electronic lens entitled 'OF WHO WE HAVE BECOME', is set for release in 2023.
