Artistic director and dancer, Savannah Fuentes, presents El Sol de Medianoche, Flamenco en Vivo: a night of powerful Spanish Flamenco music and dance featuring Singer Curro Cueto of Seville and guitarist Jose Vega of Cadiz 75 seats available. www.savannahfuentes.com José Vega's passion for flamenco began years ago in his hometown of Cadiz, Spain. At age 16 , José began performing in the flamenco bars and tablaos of Cadiz, and throughout Andalusia. He is an accomplished guitarist and a powerful expressionist. José has performed in the most prestigious peñas (flamenco clubs) and tablaos (concert halls) in Spain, including Peña la Perla de Cadiz and Tablao Cordobes (Barcelona). In 2004 Jose organized and directed his own show Flamencos de Cádiz at Casa Patas, a flamenco concert hall in Madrid, renowned as one of the most important flamenco tablaos in all of Spain. The show was such a success that he was invited back, and directed a second show in 2005. He has accompanied some of flamenco's top artists including Andres Peña, Marco Flores and Carmen Jara, Sara Salado and Raul Ortega. José has also had international success performing in the International Music Festival of Qatar, the Montreal Flamenco Festival, the Luminato Festival in Toronto, and the Royal Oak Arts Festival and Concert of Colors in Detroit. In 2006 José moved to Canada and since then has been sharing his knowledge and passion for authentic flamenco with the Canadian public. He has collaborated with many different flamenco companies across Canada and has consistenly received a warm reception from the Canadian public.
Curro Cueto was born and was raised in the flamenco neighborhood of Marchena, where he was mentored by artists such as the excellent guitarist Melchor de Marchena . At age eighteen he began studying music theory and flute at the Conservatory of Málaga, and later continued at the Conservatory of Córdoba. He has collaborated with artists such as as "The Güito" Manolete, "El Chino", Enrique de Melchor , Victor Monje Serranito, and Angel Rubio. He is a member and co-founder of the group "South Triad" . His versatility as an artist and his musical and personal concerns led him to experiment with other kinds of music as part of the National Jazz Orchestra and Big Band Forum , led by guitarist Ángel Rubio training. Within his recording credentials, but he has collaborated on many albums, recorded noteworthy solo: Flamenco Vivo, Passing Time (2000) and Me, Atiphic (2007) Include its work with South Triada (Andalusia, the soul is crying to me, and flavor you) , Jazz Hondo with Angel Rubio and Digitano with Juanjo Valmorisco. He is the author of Flamenco in its measurement (2004) method currently used in many schools. He has participated with Jose Manuel Montoya in creating teaching methods "The Bulería step by step" and "Sevillanas" for the label visual RGB Arte (2005 and 2006). In 2007 saw the light of his second book Method flamenco song and rhythm , which was released in 5 languages (Castilian, English, French, German and Japanese). In 2008 Curro recorded with the National Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Ramón Farran. A double DVD including collaborations with musicians on the national scene (Jorge Pardo, Chano Dominguez, Kepa Junquera, etc.) and international (Randy Brecker, Jerry Gonzalez and Paquito de Rivera). Since 2009 he is immersed in a new project with Caibana Group " Flamenco Fusion Salsa " by Roberto Castellón (guitar), Gonzalo Grau (piano) and percussionist José Moreno . Since 2009 he has collaborated with various performances of dancer Omayra Amaya both in Europe and in the U.S. and Asia. Since 2013 he forms a part of the project The Bejazz, a Jazz Flamenco fusion group. Curro currently gives Workshops teaching his unique method of Cante and Flamenco Flute, he also regularly attends both national and international conferences and teaches about Flamenco.
