Warren Wilson Theatre Presents: Straight As A Line
Warren Wilson Theatre presents Luis Alfaro's "Straight as a Line", a pensive examination of our relationships with death and disease, at Kittredge Theatre on the Warren Wilson College campus on November 11th, 12th, and 13th at 7:30 PM, with a 3:00 PM matinee on the 13th.
At its heart, Straight as a Line is a show about our familial relationships as we cope with the human realities of death and disease. The show centers on the relationship between Paulie, a middle-aged gay man, and his mother, a proud Vegas casino hostess, as Paulie succumbs to AIDS. Paulie and his mothers relationship is tumultuous at best, but as Paulie weakens they begin to form an understanding, unpacking the traumas of both their lives.
The content of this play is dark, giving an honest and at times heart-wrenching view of what it is like to die and heal at the same time. Nick Green of the Chicago Reader called Straight as a Line an undeniably bold piece of theater, and this assessment couldnt be more accurate from the unforgettable beginning scene to the final words of Paulies mother, Warren Wilson Colleges Straight as a Line promises to be a must-see show.
Straight as a Line explores adult themes. All performances are open to the public. For information: email theatre@warren-wilson.edu or follow us on Facebook, Warren Wilson Theatre-Crew.
