On The Beach - Centennial Collection Screening Series
All Stanley Kramer film screenings are presented courtesy of Karen Sharpe-Kramer, Katharine "Kat" Kramer and The Stanley Kramer Library. A portion of every ticket sold will go to support The Stanley Kramer Foundation.
On the Beach (1959) is a post-apocalyptic drama film directed by Stanley Kramer and written by John Paxton, based on Nevil Shute's 1957 novel of the same name and starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire and Anthony Perkins.
Stanley Kramer won the 1960 BAFTA for best director and Ernest Gold won the 1960 Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Score. The film was remade as an Australian television film by Southern Star Productions in 2000.
This film is part of the Stanley Kramer Centennial Collection with special screenings of the following films: The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T; The Wild One; High Noon; The Defiant Ones; On The Beach; The Men; Bless The Beasts and The Children; Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World; Members of the Wedding; Valentine's Weekend Encore Screening of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
