Seattle Youth Poetry Slam Prelim 3
Youth Speaks Seattle presents the third and final installment in an annual series in which youth poets compete for a chance to go to Nationals. A breathtaking event full of youthful energy, insight, and vision, with feature poets and special guests throughout.

SPECIAL FEATURE GUESTS: "SALT LINES" tour with Sonya Renee, Tara Hardy, Denise Jolly. These women represent some of the strongest and most respected talent coming out of the international Poetry Slam circuit. They and their work have been featured on HBO, CNN, MTV, BET, Oxygen, and UK Travel Networks, alongside the likes of Hillary Clinton, Ani Difranco, Gloria Steinem, Lady Miss Kier of Dee Lite, Cut Chemist, Amy Goodman, Dorothy Allison, Kate Bornstein, Michelle Tea, Sini Anderson, Ivan Coyote, and Sister Spit. Sonya, Tara, and Denise are performers, educators, facilitators, developers, and believers in the human ability to create change by honoring and expressing personal, cultural, and social history. This verbal quartet will storm, sing, slam, and sling salt into the eye of all that has ever silenced voices meant to be heard (We apologize that Andrea Gibson was not available to perform with Salt Lines for this particular event).

The slam is open to youth ages 13-19 who have not yet spit in a prelim. Bring 3 original poems, 3 mins or under in length. No props, costumes, or musical accompaniment. Judging is based on content and performance. Top 3 poets go on to Grand Slam Finals on May 15th @ Seattle's Town Hall! Tickets available now, search "Youth Speaks Seattle"
