A Sacramento Burlesque: Sacramento County Historical Society 2014 Awards Dinner

Sacramento County Historical Society's 2014 awards dinner and fundraiser features dinner at the Dante Club, awards to celebrate outstanding achievements in education, historic preservation and publication related to Sacramento history, and a live burlesque performance celebrating Sacramento's rich history with this art form, currently enjoying a revival in popularity.
This year's Awards Dinner is themed "A Sacramento Burlesque," featuring a presentation on local burlesque history by SCHS Vice-President William Burg, and performance by Sacramento burlesque troupe the Bodacious Bombshells, dancing live on the Dante Club stage to demonstrate the burlesque dance styles seen in Sacramento in the 1920s, 1940s and 1960s. Each era will be highlighted starting with a slide-show presentation of Sacramento burlesque houses, theaters and advertisements, followed by a dancer performing with the music and costume of that era.
Bombshells performer BELLA BLUE EYES will provide the first performance, set to 1920s jazz rhythms. Performer CHAPELLE will interpret the 1940s and 1950s, featuring big-band jazz music of the sort heard in West End jazz clubs. SUGAR CHEEKS will provide the third performance to the music of the 1960s.
Note: The burlesque performances are non-nude, but this event will include more "adult" themes that might not be appropriate for young children.
Members of Sacramento County Historical Society and event sponsor Sacramento Old City Association (SOCA) may purchase tickets at discounted prices for themselves and their families. Member-priced ticket purchases will be compared against member lists; non-members will be required to pay the balance at the door, or join SCHS.

Ticket Options:
$40 for members of Sacramento County Historical Society (SCHS) or the Sacramento Old City Association (SOCA) and their families.
$50 for non-members.
$100 Contributor level: This price includes meal and your name listed in the evening's event program. This price includes a $50(for non-members) or $60 (for members) tax-deductible contribution to Sacramento County Historical Society.

Vegetarian: Spinach Ravioli with Creamy Pesto Sauce
(All dinners include penne pasta with basil cream sauce, vegetables, salad, bread, dessert and coffee. Open bar for beer, wine and mixed drinks.)
