A Silent Night in Harlem
The Genesis Theatre Company presents A SILENT NIGHT IN HARLEM.
Its Christmastime in Harlem and the year is 1955.  A SILENT NIGHT IN HARLEM tells the story of the BOHANNAN FAMILY  and Dorthy Mae Bohannan who has migrated north from Yazoo City, Mississippi and is seeking better opportunities for her and her family which consists of 3 grown-daughters (CORA  A Beautician at Bessies Beauty Shop; GERTRUDE- a Maid for Tom & Gladys Parker in Upper Eastside of Manhattan, and ANNIEBELLE a Cigarette Girl at the Savoy Ballroom.  MABEL  who is Dorthy Maes friend and Neighbor and lives across the hall from the Bohannans and dates Big Jim a 2-bit Hustler and Gambler.

Dorthy migrates to Harlem from the South in search of better opportunities for her family.  But while she lives a new and different life, she fails to deal with the past that she left behind in Mississippi  and thus it is revealed that she has another daughter (one that she had later in life and had given up in a secret adoption arranged by her Mother Beulah Mae  who was a Midwife).  Dorthy had a secret love affair with a married man named Joseph, and became pregnant with his child, Josephine  who is now grown and has been searching for her Mother, Dorthy Mae, only to discover her Mother and 3 older Sisters living in Harlem.  When Josephine was born, she was delivered by Dorthys Mother  Beulah Mae a midwife who unknowingly takes young Josephine and gives her to Mary a woman who is childless and ends up raising the natural child of her husband Joseph.  The Bohannan Family prepares for a most memorable Christmas Eve Holiday they wont soon forget in this jaw-dropping tale of Love, Joy and Forgiveness!  This and much more is revealed on A Silent Night in Harlem.
A Silent Night in Harlem is a family show produced by the Genesis Theatre Company and will fill your Holiday Season with love, joy and happiness.
