Musae at Old St. Hilary's - 1 p.m. show
Musae is a women's vocal ensemble based in San Francisco. The group takes its name from the original "ladies of song," the classic nine Muses of Greek mythology. Since its founding in 2004, Musae has performed diverse and accessible music throughout the Bay Area and continues to stretch the boundaries of traditional repertoire for women's voices.
Musae welcomes guest artistic director Joel Chapman for a fresh concert series in December. The set features scintillating music from living composers, including local musician Eric Tuan, singer/songwriter Imogen Heap, Rosephanye Powell, Gwyneth Walker, Guggenheim Fellowship recipient Tonia Ko, and the legendary Ysaye Barnwell of Sweet Honey in the Rock. The choral music will soothe and challenge; envelop and dance; remind of the past and guide to the future.
