Octoberfest 2022 - Cooking with Beer!
Beer dates to at least the third century BC with the Egyptians, Babylonians and Sumerians malting barley and wheat to make beer. These techniques for brewing moved throughout the Middle East and Europe resulting in a wide selection of types of beers. The alcohol that results from fermentation has a number of distinctive properties which have been utilized in the kitchen. The alcohol molecules combine with fats and oils as well as water, making alcohol very effective at infusing flavor. Join us as we explore the different flavors when we combine beer with a range of dishes.
Let's celebrate beer by using it in a number of dishes to celebrate Octoberfest. We'll start with beer cheese soup. Using beer in an incredibly easy bread recipe creates great flavors (and leftovers make fantastic toast for breakfast!). For a hearty meal, we'll have Beer-Braised Sirloin Tips with Mushroom Sauce and serve it with Ale Mashers. To finish it off, how does a Chocolate Stout Cake sound? This menu will allow you to taste a variety of flavors that beer can add to your recipes.
