Soprano Larissa Yudina has been a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg since 1998. Her repertoire includes the Queen of the Night in Mozart's Zauberflote, Konstanze in Mozart's Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, Amina in Bellini's Sonnambula, Norina in Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Rosina in Rossini's Barbiere di Siviglia, Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto, the Bird in Wagner's Siegfried, Zerbinetta in Richard Strauss' Adriane auf Naxos, Olympia in Offenbach's Contes d'Hoffmann, Musetta in Puccini's Boheme, Queen of Shemakha in Rimsky-Korsakoff's Golden Cockerel, and the Nightingale in Stravinsky's Rossignol. Yudina has toured as the Contessa di Folleville in Rossini's Viaggo a Reims, a role that she also has sung at Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, and in a recorded performance at Bastille Opera. These performances earned her a nomination for a Golden Mask, Russia's most important theater prize. She recently appeared in the title role of Cimarosa's Cleopatra in Austria. She has been seen in Boston, Chicago, and New York as the Queen of the Night in Zauberflote and Lucia in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. She made her Seattle Opera debut in 2009 as Leila in Bizet's Pearl Fishers.
Mezzo-soprano Marina Belenky has the distinction of being one of the first former Soviet emigre artists to study for the Jewish cantorate. After graduating from St. Petersburg's Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory of Music, Belenky left Russia in search of religious and artistic freedom. Emigrating to the U.S. in 1979, she was awarded a scholarship at the Westchester Conservatory of Music. In 1982 she continued her studies at the School of Sacred Music of Hebrew Union College and was invested as a Cantor in 1986. She served as Cantor and Music Director of Temple Sinai, Stamford, CT from 1988-1999, and Temple De Hirsch Sinai in Seattle from 1999-2005. She is a guest soloist at concerts and synagogues around the country, and has performed with the Seattle Symphony. Maestro Gerard Schwarz praises Belenky as the possessor of "an exquisite voice...a very communicative singer who always amazes me with her fine musicianship." An accomplished choral conductor and teacher, she is Director of the Seattle Jewish Chorale. Her repertoire includes Jewish liturgical music, Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and Russian folksongs; Broadway show tunes; and opera. Her rich, sonorous voice and profound musicality stir the spirit of congregants and audiences of all ages.
Vladimir Polezhayev (piano) was composer and arranger for the Pop Symphony National Radio/TV Orchestra in Moscow. He is an organist, choir director, and founding member of the Long Island Piano Duo in NY.
