The Taming of The Shrew
The Tempest Ladies' third production, Taming of the Shrew, is their most ambitious yet. With their largest cast ever, an Off-Broadway theater space, and their first male director, they seek to tackle the controversial comedy from multiple conflicting viewpoints. Borrowing the framing device surrounding the original play, a panel of 7 experts on topics such as sexology and classic literature assemble in a library to debate the true meaning of the play for the audience. The panel agrees to settle their differences by performing the play itself, and hilarity ensues. With the Ladies' familiar tropes of role switching, storytelling, use of found objects and gender-bending, anything can and will happen in this madcap tale of the "Shrew" Katharina and her "tamer", Petruchio. Come on, it's that weird period between Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day, what else are you gonna do?
