The Caravaggio Songs: Music from The Escape Artist

At HOH, Kelly's cabaret performance includes original songs from The Escape Artist with additional songs by Claudio Monteverdi, Jacques Brel, and John Barry and is performed by Kelly along with John DiPinto (Music Director, piano, accordion, flute), Nioka Workman (cello), Justin Smith (violin), and Carol Lipnik (co-writer, vocals).

John Kelly
Emerging from the 1980s club scene in New York, John Kelly is an artist who works in performance and visual art. He is a trained singer, dancer, actor, and choreographer. In performance, Kelly draws on these skills to create music-theater works based on personas ranging from Barbette and Jean Cocteau to Joni Mitchell and the Mona Lisa. Less known is his work as a visual artist, which often informs his work on stage. In exhibiting Kelly's Muse Ascending a Staircase, audiences will have the opportunity to see both with an exhibition of his latest work alongside his live cabaret performances.
