More information about this event: Starbelly School of Dance presents the 4th Annual Big Bad-Ass Belly Dance Weekend. A fundraising event for the local Starbelly SEEDs (Self Esteem, Empowerment and Education through Dance) program for at risk teenage girls.
Starbelly School of Dance is putting on its 4th big show to help raise for the Starbelly SEEDs program that is in its 2nd year at Starbelly. SEEDs (Self Esteem, Empowerment and Education through Dance) is a program started by Myra Krien from Santa Fe, NM. Krien (who was the guest dancer at the Big Bad Ass Belly Dance Show 2 years ago) started program over 10 years ago and it has since spread to many cities all over the US. Cecilia Rinn of Starbelly brought the program to Boise in 2012 and hopes to raise awareness and funds. "It was inspiring to see these young women [Pomegranate SEEDs graduates] have so much self-confidence, and be so connected to their communities. Immediately I wanted to get involved in a program that was giving girls the courage and tools they need to grow into strong women."
