RINGO DEATHSTARR, PURPLE, BODY FUTURES, & FAHRI
Texas comes to Wisconsin when Ringo Deathstarr and Purple hit the stage at Mad Planet for a night of loud, energetic music.
Austin nu gaze trio Ringo Deathstarr formed in 2005. Since 2011, they've released a steady stream of acclaimed heavy, shoegaze-influenced tunes over three full-length LPs and two EPs, with a third of the latter soon to be released. In addition to headlining multiple tours, Ringo Deathstarr has toured with heavy-hitters like Smashing Pumpkins, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, A Place to Bury Strangers, and The Wedding Present.
Joining them is another energetic Texas trio: Purple. Last year, they rocked Mad Planet with Har Mar Superstar, shortly after they burst onto the scene with their excellent debut '409.' In his review of that album, Examiner's Michael Rickert provided this gem of a quote: "...songs like 'Big Light' are such insatiably catchy anthems that are so digestible a nun would head bang to it."
Two fantastic Milwaukee bands with rich pedigrees will get the ball rolling on this one. Body Futures is a relatively new noise pop project, but their members have been respetively molding the Milwaukee scene for decades in bands like IfIHadAHiFi, The Five Mod Four, White Wrench Conservatory, Testa Rosa, and and Everybody at Midnight. Fahri is also going on a decade of bringing us fuzzed out shoegaze goodness.
