Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier Concert
The Sacramento Youth Symphonys 66th season opens with the Premier Orchestra performance titled Arcadian Reverie. The 70-piece orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Ryan Murray, will present Brahms' Symphony no. 2 in D Major. This cheerful, lyrical work is sometimes referred to as the composer's pastoral symphony (be sure to listen for his famous lullaby tune in the first movement). Other works include Louise Farrenc's dramatic Overture no. 1 in E Minor and Myroslav Skoryk's Melody for Symphony Orchestra: a piece that has recently emerged as a symbol of resistance to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
