Chuck Brodsky Concert
North Carolina based singer-songwriter Chuck Brodsky is returning to one of his favorite venues, the Marshall Grange in Garden Valley. The show will begin at 7:30 P.M. Saturday January 25. Chuck is a storyteller, a songwriter, a troubador, a modern day bard. His wit and irony, set to haunting melodies delivered over syncopated guitar strumming or sweet fingerpicking, tells stories of oddball and underdog characters. He is a master story teller introducing his songs which poke fun at political corruption, road rage, unsung heroes and forgotten but incredible people, odd characters from the game of baseball, migrant fruit pickers, and 'Radio,' a developmentally disabled man who was the subject of the 2003 movie 'Radio'. Chuck has a genuine connection to the people of the Georgetown Divide, and has sold out the Grange Hall in his last concerts here.
His ten albums have received world wide critical acclaim, including his latest release "The Baseball Ballads 2". Chuck's passion for baseball and its colorful, off-beat cast of characters is evident in two albums devoted entirely to Baseball tales with songs about the first white man to play in the Negro Leagues, a pitcher who threw a no-hitter while hallucinating on LSD, a catcher who was also a spy during World War II, a baserunner who cost his team the pennant by not touching a base, the Clown Prince of Baseball. and Chuck's favorite player from childhood getting booed by hometown fans.
Over the past 20 years Chuck has performed at all across the USA, Canada, Ireland, England, Israel, Lithuania, Latvia, Wales, and the Shetland Islands of Scotland and has played the folk festivals at Tønder in Denmark, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Kerrville, Philadelphia, and Strawberry, and the Lincoln Center Out of Door series in New York. He has also performed three times at the National Baseball Hall of Fame where 18 of his celebrated Baseball story songs have been enshrined in the Hall's sound recording library. You can hear a sampling of his songs at www.chuckbrodsky.com. along with cuts off his new CD, "The Baseball Ballads 2".
