Tour of Old Towne Orange
Join AIAOC for a walking tour of a small block of structures in Old Towne Orange which will highlight two specific structures. One is the Digital and Media Arts building that is an adaptive reuse of a historic industrial building and another is a Mid-Century Office building that has been restored.
Learning Objectives:
The program will focus on identifying project constraints and opportunities in terms of historic preservation and meeting state standards.
The attendees will be introduced to the Secretary of Interior Standards for treatment of historic properties.
The attendees will learn the difference between Preservation, Restoration and Rehabilitation in terms of the standards.
The attendees will learn how to identify Character Defining Features and the trouble with false sense of history and how to differentiate between historic and new elements.
The attendees will be introduced to Historic Building Codes and how the standards fit into the process.
