SKATE! A Night at the Rink

Forklift Danceworks is reprising its sold-out summer show SKATE! A Night at the Rink March 5th and 8th at Playland Skate Center. Aptly described by The Austin Chronicle as "a big wet kiss to the communal experience of roller-skating" SKATE! features over 30 rollerskaters in an hour-long performance that celebrates all there is to love about the skating life.

Directed by Artistic Director Allison Orr, SKATE! is inspired by the skaters who frequent Playland's weekly adult night, and showcases all of the elements one might observe on a night at the rink- from ladies' choice to all-skate, men's speed skate to couple's backwards skate. The cast includes adults of all ages (oldest skater is 71!) and includes local jam skaters, competitive figure skaters, and even a few rollergirls.

Audiences members sit right on the rink to experience close-up the thrill and joy of skating, and the show concludes with a grand all-skate where audience members are invited to join the cast out on the rink.
