Workshop: Painting the Clothed Model

March 23,30, April 6,13, (skip 20), 27 & May 4, 2014
Using the live model and photographs, students will learn to paint the human figure in casual poses and also combine several poses into one work. Students are encouraged to use loose brushwork. Open to all media and skill levels.
Yura Adams was born in Sioux City, Iowa and lives in Athens, New York. Adams received a BFA in painting and a MFA in performance art and photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited as a painter and intermedia artist throughout the United States in venues such as The New Museum in New York, Experimental Intermedia, Franklin Furnace, New Music America, Real Art Ways, Hartford, Ct. and one person shows at the John Davis Gallery in Hudson, New York, who represents her. Adams has been the recipient of two NEA grants and was a 2009 regional representative in the NYFA Mark program. She has taught art at Hudson Opera House, IS183 of West Stockbridge, MA, Columbia Greene Community College of Hudson, NY, and Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island.
