Speaking Into The Silence
"Speaking into the Silence"'
WHAT? A night of social justice spoken word, poetry, and art fair hosted by Rufina of the FoodLove podcast and sponsored by Finnriver
WHERE: Finnriver's Hay Barn FINNRIVER FARM & CIDERY 124 Center Road, Chimacum, WA 98325
WHEN: Thursday, August 11, 2022, 5:30-7:30 pm
WHO: Participating poets and singers include Velda Thomas, Grace Love, Lisbeth White, Melissa O'Neil, Oceana Sawyer, Rufina Garay and more.
HOW? The night will begin with a silence circle. This will be a masked event to support community health.
Only Thursday night is "by invitation only" in order to provide a close-knit environment of support for poets, singers, writers, artists, and artisans. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You may want to bring a blanket as some of the barn doors may be open for ventilation. If you like to remember phrases or thoughts as you listen, consider bringing your journal and a pen.
Event guests are invited to preview and purchase art fair items. The public is invited to the "Art as Resistance and Resilience" Fair on Friday (8/12, 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Saturday 8/13, 12-6 p.m.)
WHY? The number one intention for this night is to create safe space and community for the artists, poets, storytellers, singers, and artisans to share their works and begin a community practice of resilience and co-evolution in social justice.
Books, records, visual art, jewelry, leather goods, beadwork, and more will be available for sale.
Space is limited, contact Rufina on Instagram at @foodlovetao_thespacebetween with questions.
