Fake Radio Presents: "The Great McGinty"
To help celebrate the inauguration of our 44th President, Fake Radio offers some of the finest political comedy and drama of the 1940's!
We'll start with an episode of one of the longest-running 1/2-hour radio series of the era: "Mr. District Attorney". The show ran from 1939 to 1952 on both NBC and ABC and our episode aired in 1944. More information about that series can be found here.
And we'll end with the radio adaptation of the story that won Preston Sturges an Acadamy Award in 1940: "The Great McGinty". Brian Donlevy reprises the role he played in the film about how a regular joe rises to become a political star in his city and state.
