At this gathering we will celebrate 2013 accomplishments and honor amazing volunteers and community partners working to conserve natural resources and support sustainable farming throughout Pierce County.
Alongside this year's theme of Opportunities in Farming, we welcome you to come early to tour the USDA Mobile Meat Processing Unit as well as see the District's Featherman Poultry Processing Equipment and manure spreader beginning at 4:00pm outside of the STAR Center!
Doors open at 4:30pm for gathering, viewing of our partner displays, slide show of accomplishments and a light local dinner. Presentation of District and Stream Team awards begins at 6:15pm, followed by a special presentation and panel discussion, Opportunities in Farming for Pierce County. A panel will share their experiences and discuss opportunities and challenges they face. Speakers include: Janice Bryant of Kaukiki Farm, Garth Daley Highsmith and Lauren Manes of Dropstone Farms and Micah Anderson of Seattle Tilth Farm Works.
Elections:
The election for a position on the District Board of Supervisors will also take place at this event. Although the Annual Meeting is from 5:00-8:00pm, voting is open from 4:00-8:00pm. To have your ballot counted, you must be a registered voter who resides within District boundaries and be able to show identification to verify that you are a qualified voter. (If you wish to request a ballot be mailed to you, you must provide your name, mailing address AND residential address and legal signature to Selena, District Elections Officer, at admin@piercecountycd.org or call (253) 845-9770 by February 19, 2014 before 4pm.)
