NJW Presents Pete Christlieb and Linda Small with the Lori Mechem Quartet
Legendary saxophonist Pete Christlieb returns for a rare appearance at the Jazz Cave on Friday, January 17, 8pm. He'll be joined by the Lori Mechem Quartet. In 2006, Pete and the quartet released a live CD recorded at the Cave. It received national airplay and rose to #15 on the Jazz Charts.
For those who may not remember, Pete Christlieb played the legendary sax solos on the Steely Dan song Deacon Blues (from the album AJA), Natalie Cole's Unforgettable and provided the music for countless movies and TV shows. He was also a regular member of the Tonight Show Band for many years.
Christlieb currently lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife, trombonist Linda Small, who will be a special guest for the Jazz Cave appearance. The two released a CD, Tall and Small Band, several years ago, featuring arrangements from Bill Holman for their 10-piece group.
The Lori Mechem Quartet includes Roger Spencer on bass, Andy Reiss on guitar, Chris Brown on drums and Lori on piano.
Admission is $20 / $10 high school and college students with ID. Tickets will go on sale Monday, January 6 at 10AM and will be available online on this page, by phone 24/7 at Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006) or during business hours at the NJW office (242-5299). A small convenience charge is added to online or 800-number purchases.
