Dmitri Shostakovich String Quartet No 8 in C minor, Op 110 (1960)
On the first half of this program, we celebrate the soloistic virtuosity of pianist George Li, silver medalist at the 2015 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition. To close, we present a 20th century masterpiece, Dmitri Shostakovichs String Quartet No 8a work that the composer claimed he could never listen to without breaking into tears.
