It is a classic of Russian literature and its eponymous protagonist served as the model for a number of Russian literary heroes. The story concerns Eugene Onegin, a selfish hero who lives to regret his blas rejection of a young woman's love and his careless incitement of a duel with Lensky, his best friend.
