Snap on 2&4 w/ the NJW All-Stars, featuring Duffy Jackson
Trumpeter George Tidwell has long been a mainstay of Nashville's jazz scene. A native of Memphis, he came to Nashville in 1963, and has had a long career as a studio musician, arranger, and of course, jazz musician. Along with Beegie Adair and saxophonist Denis Solee, he led many acclaimed Nashville groups such as the Part-Time, Big-Time, Be-bop Co-op. It was in these groups that he developed a much-loved book of original arrangements for three horns and rhythm section. George has led several Snap on 2&4 performances of this book under the banner of the NJW All-Stars, and will do so again on Friday, January 24 at 8pm in the Jazz Cave.
George and Denis will be there, along with Roy Agee on trombone, Lori Mechem & Roger Spencer on piano and bass, respectively, and the newest All-Star to be featured, the great Duffy Jackson on drums.
Admission is $20 / $10 high school and college students with ID. Tickets will go on sale Monday January 13 at 10AM and will be available online on this page, by phone 24/7 at Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006) or during business hours at the NJW office (242-5299).
