James Toland Vocal Arts is a San Francisco Bay Area-based nonprofit established to encourage and cultivate, through competition and education, the emerging talents of singers who aspire to a professional career in vocal performance. The 9th Annual JTVA Competition Weekend is comprised of four events which are all open to the public. Singers will compete for $50,000 in prize money. All events will be held at the Taube Atrium Theater in the War Memorial Performing Arts Center, 401 Van Ness Ave. in San Francisco, CA.
EVENTS:
TIER II MASTER CLASS - SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. Performance educator Ann Baltz will conduct a master class for the 7 Tier II competition finalists. TIER I MASTER CLASS - SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. Internationally-renowned composer Jake Heggie will conduct a master class for the 7 Tier I competition finalists.
TIER II VOCAL COMPETITION FINALS - SUNDAY, JULY 17, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. Tier II is for singers who are studying at or near the college level and considering a professional singing career. 7 finalists will compete before a judging panel and live audience.
TIER I VOCAL COMPETITION FINALS - SUNDAY, JULY 17, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Tier I is for singers who have studied voice extensively, developed substantial skill in vocal performance, and are ready to begin a professional career. 7 finalists will compete before a judging panel and live audience.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the break between the two competition finals on Sunday.

COVID INFORMATION:
UPDATE 7/12/22: With the recent rise in Covid cases due to the emergence of new variants, and out of an abundance of caution, JTVA has decided to implement a revised Covid policy for safety precaution at this weekend's events. We will be requiring all attendees to show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid rapid test taken within the previous 72 hours for entrance and to wear masks at all times. The only exceptions will be for the singers during performance and for others only when actively eating or drinking in designated areas.
TICKETS:
Tickets may be purchased separately for each event. The individual ticket price for each event is $20 for General Admission, $10 for Students. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door, subject to availability.
