The Little Prince
Based on the classic French novella by Antoine de Saint-Exupry, the play is a fantasy story of an aviator who crashes in the Sahara, damaging his plane and leaving him with little food or water. As he contemplates his fate, he meets a young prince from another planet, who has journeyed through the universe on a quest for knowledge. Their friendship develops as the Prince asks questions of the pilot and tells of his life on his own small planet. The story is simply told, but its themes are complex, with the adult ultimately learning from the child. Published in 1943, The Little Prince is as relevant today as it was 65 years ago.
The Merc Playhouse Childrens Theater production of The Little Prince runs March 13-15, with evening shows at 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and additional matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. The play features a cast of locals including Rowan Post, Lincoln Post, Eliza Brown, Amelia Hanron, Kendall Leaver, Elijah Lints and Allyse Sullivan. Tickets $12/adults, $6/children. For more information, please call 997-PLAY.
