To Frack or Not to Frack--That is the Question -- Dr. David Chipping
The national debate on fracking is comprised of facts, unknowns, suppositions, and emotions. This course will identify the issues and address the vital questions informed citizens need to understand and weigh, such as: What is fracking? What are the potential impacts on our homes, land, water and climate? Is there a correlation between fracking and earthquakes? What are the potential costs and rewards of fracking?
David Chipping (Ph.D. in Geology from Stanford) is an Emeritus Professor of Geology at Cal Poly. He has authored a field guide to SLO geology and several reports on fracking. He is also president of the SLO Chapter of California Native Plant Society, and former statewide Conservation Director. He serves on the Water Advisory Committee to the SLO County Board of Supervisors.
