Re:Sound 2022 Concert I featuring Warp Trio / Robin Blake Sound Experiment
Join us in-person for Re:Sound 2022, June 9-12th. Re:Sound is an annual new and experimental music festival that brings together and showcases pioneers in the arts with diverse programming of music and workshops at venues throughout Cleveland.
Our first Re:Sound 2022 festival concert features performances by:
WARP TRIO Warp Trio (NYC) is an internationally touring cross-genre chamber music experience. A mashup of Juilliard trained players and members steeped in rock and jazz styles, the one-of-a-kind trio can be seen performing classical works in prestigious halls on the same tour where they headline a standing room only show at a rock venue. In addition to their electrifying public performances, they have gained a reputation for their innovative educational workshops with students from grade school through university level.
Warp Trio will perform "Grounding // Sparks" by NYC based Composer/Guitarist Brendon Randall-Myers. This recently premiered Chamber Music America commission is a 2 part, 25-minute, endurance based tour-de-force for amplified piano trio and drum set that combines sublime lyricism and beauty with dizzying virtuosity.
ROBIN BLAKE SOUND EXPERIMENT A wise musician once said to "play the universe", and Robin Blake Sound Experiment (CLE) will show you what is possible when universes collide. This 9-piece band pieces will explore the intersection between jazz, hip hop, and electronic music while incorporating elements such as field recordings and spontaneous improvisation.
Robin Blake will be debut a composition inspired by Vedic Astrology and its relation to the Orishas of West African mythology. Mixing idioms from the music of India and the Black diaspora, this piece will unite two of the oldest forms of musical creation known to man, but with a modern, electronic twist.
