You will find yourself in a clown's hideaway workroom where you will be exposed to a bit of theory and a lot of practice.
You will get hold of the laws by which clown lives as well as be privy to some very particular clown secrets.
This knowledge will guide you towards the character of your very own clown.
At the end of the workshop you will participate in the creation of a clown routine.
L o g i s t i c s:
Over the span of two full days, the workshop will focus on exploring three main elements that fuel the discovery and construction of clown and clown antics: timing, character and the sense of "I". Participants will learn about the use of gags, pauses, silence as well as the clown's accoutrements (make-up, costume, props). Furthermore, participants will be led into notions of alogism and the four levels of comedy. The confusion that "I" creates backstage, as well as on, will be addressed by tackling such questions as why do I want to become a clown?, how do I surf the highs and the flops, is there a place for my negative emotions?, and what use really is all this internal dialogue?.
