The Raven
A centuries-old commedia dell'arte play entitled "The Raven," musicalized and contemporized by Soft Brain Theatre Company. A tragi-comic fairy tale with music, merrymaking, and buffoonery!
Our production of The Raven is a devised musical based on the Albert Bermel and Ted Emery translation of the Carlo Gozzi commedia play.
When King Millo shoots down a precious raven in the forest, an abominable ogre inflicts a dreadful curse upon him that leaves the ill-fated king forever haunted. His brother, Prince Jennaro, miserably searches the world for the key to break the curse, while thwarting the evil magic of a sorcerer known as Norando.
Soft Brain Theatre Company's adaptation features a score of original music with lead composition by Owen O'Leary and Isaiah Spetz.
The Raven is directed by CJ DiOrio.
Cast: Nikki Amico, Lara García Landa, Megan Jeter, Joshua Kukafka, Owen O'Leary, Lila Perlman, Reed Pike, Isaiah, Spetz, RJ Tabachnick, Nicole Tsarouhas, and Emma Yaniger.

About Soft Brain Theatre Company:
Soft Brain Theatre Company (SBTC) was founded in late 2021 as a direct response to the post-pandemic theatre landscape in New York City. Started by a group of NYU Tisch School of the Arts pandemic graduates who are fiercely passionate about physical acting, SBTC aims to bring laughter, joy, and playfulness back to audiences in a way that both resurrects a childhood sense of wonder, and gently reflects on the current cultural context. The purpose of SBTC is to remind audiences of the necessity of Play, and to encourage them to welcome more lightness of heart and softer thoughts into our ever-hardening world.
