Chocolate Safari: University Boulevard, Rice Villege
This tour has been discontinued as of April 6, 2014. If you have already purchased a Group On for this tour or plan to do so, please call Discover Houston Tours at (713) 222-9255. We have scheduled other Chocolate Safari options for Rice Village. Thank you.
Advance paid reservations are required for all tours.
Meet your tour guide at the Discover Houston Tours table inside La Madeleine on Kirby Drive in Rice Village.
Learn about the history of chocolate and the story behind Texas-born La Madeleine as you get to know the other participants and sample a complimentary chocolate tart and chocolate eclair. Restrooms available.
We like to have an even dozen on each tour, with the guide making it a baker's dozen.
One of the goals of the safari is for each person to bag a chocolate trophy but, because of differing tastes and budgets, we do not include the cost of your food and beverages in the tour price. We do, however, provide tastings at each stop. As a result, you can choose to purchase some tiny treats or pounds and pounds of chocolate at each of our four stops. We promise not to count the calories.
Leave La Madeleine and walk a few blocks through Rice Village to Chocolat du Monde, a petite boutique devoted to chocolate from around the world. Enjoy a complimentary tasting as you learn about Belgian (Leonides and Neuhaus)and French (Michael Cluizel) imported chocolates. It's chocolate heaven.
Next, follow your guide through the Village to University Boulevard and Swirll. After complimentary tastings of available flavored yogurts, you might want to create a treat totally your own. Perhaps you'll start with cookies and cream yogurt (just one of 14 flavors), then head for the toppings bar which has 30 rotating choices. Maybe some cherries with Butterfingers or Kit Kat morsels? It's the ultimate yogurt experience.
Last, but definitely not least, your guide will lead you a few steps to your fourth stop -- really a twofer -- the Chocolate Bar and Candylicious. After your guide gives you a brief history and tour of this uniquely Houston business, you can sample tastings of their 24 in-house ice cream flavors, purchase a handmade gift item (chocolate handcuffs, anyone?), split a chocolate pizza, or load up on candy, whatever your heart desires. Restrooms available.
After three hours and four delicious stops, we hope you'll stay and savor more delights in Rice Village.
