Crow Hill Supper Club Presents: Trini Sunday Lunch by Lena's Kitchen
Crow Hill Supper Club was formed in 2013 by Real Cheap Eats co-founder, Scharf & Zoyer proprietor and lawyer, Noah Arenstein. Crow Hill Supper Club enlists innovative chefs from the entire NYC culinary spectrum and further afield in order to provide an intimate, one-of-a-kind dining experience inside a century-old home in historic Crown Heights, Brooklyn every month.
For the inaugural dinner on January 11, 2014, Crow Hill Supper Club is using the local community of Crown Heights for inspiration. Nostrand Avenue is home to a panoply of West Indian cuisines, from Guyunese and Bajan, to Trini and Jamaican, among others. Many of these restaurants have their specialties, but few provide the home cooked flair combined with the technical skill of Crystal Voisin. Her pop-up, Lena's Kitchen, launched earlier this year. For this inaugural meal, Crystal will be cooking classic weekend dishes from her native Trinidad including bake and shark, stewed chicken and chow mein. See the full menu below.
Trini food is recognized and respected as among the best of the Caribbean. It combines native ingredients with influences from China, India and many others forming one of the most unique and delicious cuisines in the world.
Menu: Mini Bake 'n Shark Stewed Chicken with Red Beans Callaloo Chow Mein Potato Salad Carrot Rice Currant Rolls.
Sorrel Rum Punch and non-alcoholic sparkling grapefruit punch.
