Clever Dick
Poking wicked fun at the English class system, "Clever Dick" is a detective story with some rather complicated relationships to be sorted out, and justice (of a sort) to be done. The play is written by Charles Marowitz and is being directed by Hank Hayden. Hank is a new director to the Jewel Box, an alumni of the NKHS Theater Arts program, and you will recognize him from previous Ghost Light productions. He brings some new faces and fresh ideas to our little Box. Clever Dick runs Fridays & Saturdays at 8 p.m. January 24 through February 15. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. on Jan. 26 and Feb. 2, 9 & 16.
This British farce is sexually charged and gleefully tongue-in-cheek, making fun of the fetishes of the upper crust in present day England who still cling to the traditional ways. But this is no Downton Abbey. You won't want to see any of these folks live happily ever after. It's a murder mystery, but is it really? Don't you need a corpse for that? The oafish Scotland Yard Inspector can't seem to hang on to one, let alone solve the case.
Recommended for mature audiences only due to sexual content.
Tickets are $16 for adults or $14 for seniors/students/military.
The theater is located at 225 Iverson St. in Poulsbo. More information at jewelboxpoulsbo.org or (360)697-3183.
