UW Modern Tour
Join Docomomo US/WEWA for a walking tour of Modern architecture at the University of Washington's main campus in Seattle. We are meeting in-person for the first time since December 2019!
Perhaps better known for its older historic architecture and campus design, this tour focuses on the university's development from post-WWII through the 1970s. Led by Docomomo US/WEWA Board members Tyler Sprague and Alan Michelson, the tour highlights some of the more significant Modern buildings and spaces on campus such as Gould Hall, Red Square, Kane Hall, the Faculty Club, McMahon Hall, Winkenwerder Forest Resources Laboratory, the former site of the Nuclear Reactor Building, and more!
This is an approximately 90-minute walking tour that covers a large part of the campus. Rain or shine! We'll view exteriors only except Gould Hall.
The tour is free but capacity is limited. Registration required though Brown Paper Tickets. There is no waiting list for this event. The starting location of the tour will be shared once you register for the event.
We look forward to gathering in-person on Sunday, April 24! This event is produced by Docomomo US/WEWA. It is not a University of Washington event, but we'll follow all current UW Coronavirus guidelines and policies and King County Public Health regulations.
Docomomo US/WEWA's programs are partially funded by a 4Culture 2022 Preservation Sustained Support grant.
