Mastersingers Free Concert at Palo Alto College - May 1st, 3PM
Dr. John Silantien retires after an illustrious 38-year career as Music Director of the San Antonio Mastersingers. Join us for this fond farewell concert - Now I Walk in Beauty - on Sunday, May 1st 3PM at the beautiful and acoustically excellent Performing Arts Center on the campus of Palo Alto College. Admission is free but please RSVP so we know you're coming!
Don't let your GPS fool you! The easiest way to the Performing Arts Center is I-35 South to S. Zarzamora, then head south to 410 Access Rd. and head west (right). The campus entrance and the venue will be on your right. Parking is free and plentiful. Please RSVP so we know you're coming.
The music ranges widely and much of the performance replicates our repertoire for our upcoming performing tour of Scotland, England and Wales. Enjoy cathedral anthems by British composers, early American folk hymns such as Amazing Grace, and Joseph M. Martin's The Awakening. Featured will be Joshua Shanks, alleluia (in quarantine), co-commissioned by the Mastersingers and followed with a rousing spiritual by Byron Smith, Shout Glory. We'll conclude with a Final Farewell musical tribute to Dr. Silantien.
