Comedy on Elm Street with Mike McDonald, Amy Tee, E.J. Murphy and Janet McNamara
Mike McDonald, who has performed comedy in 50 different countries, headlines another killer show as comedy returns to the Elm Draught House Cinema on Saturday, April 30. The show also features Elm Street favorites Amy Tee and E.J. Murphy and Boston Comedy Festival finalist Janet McNamara.
The show is presented by Scamps Comedy (ScampsComedy.com).
Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Showtime is 9:30 p.m.
One of the BEST comedians who came from the Ding Ho, the seminal comedy club for the Boston scene, Mike McDonald has performed comedy all over the world on cruise ships and USO Tours. He has done comedy on planes, helicopters and in the Focselle of the USS America during air ops. He could see the air move when a fighter would take off and had to time his stuff to punch between the deafening roar of takeoff. He has worked Kuwait in August and Greenland in December, so do not tell him how your weather is horrible. In less than 9 months, he has had both frostbite and prickly heat. He has performed in 50 different countries and is universally loved except at the places they firebombed.
Amy Tee is one of the busiest comedians on the New England comedy circuit today. Whether performing in world famous comedy clubs, theaters, colleges, or at charity events, her edgy but subtle approach turns her personal tribulations into non-stop hilarity with mainstream and alternative audiences from Los Angeles to New York City alike. As an official presenter for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Amy Tee proudly uses her comedy act to serve as a mental wellness advocate. Mentioned in Curve magazine as one of the "funniest lesbians in America," and identified as a rising star by the Boston Globe, she is a regular performer at the Boston Comedy Festival and also featured on Sirius XM Satellite Radio & LOGO television network.
Vermont's E.J. Murphy has played top clubs all over and has built a reputation as one of the Northeast's consistently funny comedy headliners. His comedy has appeared on MSNs home page, Sirius XM, Audibles Sounds Like America, and Rooftop Comedy's Daily 8. He has appeared in the semi-finals of The Boston Comedy Festival, The Oddball, Burbank, Asheville and Burbank Comedy festivals, The Comedy Central Laugh Riots, and has even opened for Styx.
Janet McNamara is a Boston-based comic with a conversational style and awkwardly charming energy. Earlier this year, she was selected to perform in the prestigious Hampton Beach Comedy Festival. The former finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival contest, McNamara won the 2014 BeanTown Comedy Riots and has been featured in Bostons Women in Comedy Festival, the Ashville Comedy Festival and Burbank Comedy Festival. You might also recognize her as being the 'Golden Idol winner for the worst audition of American Idol season 10, an appearance that introduced a national audience to her joie de vivre and infectious energy. McNamara doesn't speak French.
