Ten Thousand Things' Production of Iphigenia at Aulis
Everwood Farmstead Foundation concludes its 10th season of the Artist Series with Ten Thousand Things' Production of Iphigenia at Aulis on Sunday, September 11th!
Ten Thousand Things invigorates ancient tales, classic stories, and contemporary plays through vital, open interactions between actors and audiences. And they bring their award-winning, high-quality professional theater to people with little access to the arts. The company performs for free at homeless shelters, correctional facilities, low-income senior centers, reservations, after-school programs, and women's shelters - any place where they can reach people who do not have easy access to the arts. TTT doesn't use a stage; rather, they perform on the floor inside a circle of chairs, with the lights on so everyone can see each other, with minimal sets and live music. The result is a performance that engages the audience's imagination. They also perform for paying audiences, typically in Minneapolis.
Iphigenia at Aulis by Euripides was first presented in 405 BC in Athens Greece. To this day it is still one of the most moving plays ever written. This production is a contemporary take on a classic tale about the courage it takes for a young woman to step forward even when facing unimaginable challenges. Directed by Marcela Lorca, with music direction from JD Steele and a stellar company of Ten Thousand Things actors, including Regina Marie Williams, Sally Wingert and Steve Epp. Weather permitting, this production will be held outdoors in Everwood's field (alternative location is the barn).
Everwood's Pay-What-You-Can ticket price is simple - choose your ticket price from the list above. One-half of your ticket price will be provided to the artists and the other half will be distributed through Everwood's Aspiring Artists Fund. The Fund provides grants to arts-focused teachers in Barron, Dunn, Pepin, Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties for projects that spark wonder and talent in their young, aspiring artists. Everwood reveals a recipient(s) at each performance. Since 2012, Everwood has donated almost $38,000 to local school programs.
